2012 Registration Information and Program Summary

Our Mission: To provide a safe, healthy and enjoyable opportunity for young athletes to learn and compete in the game of boy's lacrosse.  There will be opportunities for players of all abilities to participate with others of similar skills in all age groups.

Programs Offered: Primary Spring Outdoor Program (from March to June) entering varying levels of competition.

Eligibility: CYLAX programs are only available to residents of Tredyffrin & Easttown Townships. Should you reside outside of Tredyffrin & Easttown, you should seek access to the program that serves your township.

Spring 2012 Program Registration:  Registration is open from November 15, 2011 to January 16, 2012.  Those registering after January 16, 2012 will be put on the waiting list and will be placed on teams only if space permits.

Online Registration is the only way to register your son for CYLAX.  If you want to talk to a Program Director, Coach, or Board Member before registering or if you need to be guided through the registration process, please send an email to info@cylax.com and we will contact you.  A link to our Registration Form is available starting November 15, 2011 at www.cylax.com.  Online registration requires health insurance information and a credit card. For new players or any players who did not participate last year, a copy (that we keep) of your child’s birth certificate must either be mailed as a PDF file to info@cylax.com or mailed to CYLAX, PO Box 1325, Southeastern PA  19399 by February 5, 2011.  Reasonable substitutes for birth certificates include passports, baptismal records, school records, etc; so long as they contain both the child’s name and his date of birth).

Registration is not considered complete until all paperwork has been received.  CYLAX is sensitive to families who would otherwise not be able to participate due to financial hardships.  CYLAX values the participation and is able to offer financial assistance to these players.  If you are in this situation, please do not hesitate to contact Steve Friedman, CYLAX President, directly and confidentially at stevef1@verizon.net.

Finally, running CYLAX is an expensive proposition and we are grateful to the many fine individuals and companies who have supported us financially in the past.  Please sponsorship or a donation to our organization during the registration process.

Tryouts:  Tryouts for U15A , U15B, all U13 teams, and the U11 Player Evaluations are tentatively scheduled for February 25 & 26 2012.  Details will follow via email and on our website.  All “A” level and the U11 Travel players are expected to make a commitment to Lacrosse over other recreational and youth sport activities.  (It is anticipated that flexibility will be needed from time to time for those players involved with Middle School lacrosse/athletic teams).  Players wishing to play a travel schedule but are unable to make this kind of commitment should let coaches know that they are trying out for a “B” level travel team only.  Please note, at all levels, excessive or unexcused absence may lead to reduced playing time.

Equipment:  All players are required to have a lacrosse stick, lacrosse helmet (hockey helmets are not allowed), shoulder and rib pads, elbow pads, lacrosse gloves and mouth guards.  New lacrosse equipment can be purchased at most sporting goods stores.  Used equipment may be available at Play-it-Again Sports in Berwyn.  Note: Any color of helmet is acceptable; however, if your child is going to play for CYLAX on a extended basis, you may be better off purchasing a black helmet.  For those interested, helmet labels showcasing the maroon Conestoga “C” can be purchased during registration. It is also highly recommended that helmets are properly fit and adjusted to insure maximum safety.

Uniforms:  Coaches will provide the league approved uniforms to players during the first or second week of practice.

The following outlines the uniform policy for CYLAX:

-        U15, U13, & U11 Travel:  The Chester County Lacrosse Association requires CYLAX players to wear maroon colored jersey.  Players receive a CYLAX reversible no sleeve jersey and shorts that they get to keep after the season.  U15 & U13 players will also receive a performance tee or shooting shirt that will be expected to be worn as part of the uniform. Additional shorts and other CYLAX items will be available for purchase at our team online store.  Check our website at www.cylax.com for details.

-         U11, U9 and U7 House:  The U11 and U9 teams play in an internal house league.  Players receive a CYLAX reversible jersey that they get to keep after the season.  There are no restrictions on U11, U9, and U7 shorts; however, CYLAX recommends solid BLACK or the league approved shorts which may be purchased via our online team store.  Check our website at www.cylax.com for details.
